Bible Doctrine

The Abrahamic covenant is an unconditional covenant that God made with Abraham in Genesis 12.1-4, confirmed to Isaac in Genesis 26.24, and Jacob in Genesis 35.12.

A short summary study of angels and demons.

Questions you may ask yourself to help you be prepared to defend your faith.

How do I know that God exists? What is God like? How do I know that Jesus really lived? How do I know that the resurrection really happened? How do I know that Jesus Christ is the only way to God? What do you think about Jesus? How come there are so many religions?

The biblical and reasoned defense of the biblical faith.

Three points on Apologetics: Is the Bible true? Did Jesus really live? Did Christianity copy paganism?

A Study of the doctrine of the trinity.

The character of God dictates that a baby who dies will go to heaven. God will do the right thing. This doctrine talks about God's faithfulness, comfort, care; hope; and promises.

The act by which the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ the moment he believes and identifies him with Christ's body the Church.

There are at least seven different kinds of baptism mentioned in the Bible. Three are wet baptisms and four are dry baptisms.

The barrier is the sin wall that exists between God and man because of man's fall.

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God and true man in one person. This means that He is undiminished deity and true humanity on one person forever. As God he has existed forever, fellowshipped with God the Father and the Holy Spirit forever, and he created all things. The man Jesus was born, lived, died, arose, ascended to the Father, is the head of the church, and is waiting to call his church to heaven and then to return to rule earth in the millennium and new heavens and new earth. Believers trust him, watch him, and follow him. Jesus Christ’s relation to believers emphasizes that he is mediator, priest, advocate, authority, leader, and protector. This topic of Bible doctrine is called Christology.

Five Truths for Application

The subject of James 2:14-26 is Christian life faith, not eternal salvation faith. This faith will apply Bible doctrine and so will save or deliver the believer during life. Both God and people see this active or living faith.

A brief study of the Doctrine of Demons.

J. Dwight Pentecost (14) writes "There is a vast difference between being saved and being a disciple. Not all men who are saved are disciples although all who are disciples are saved. In discussing the question of discipleship, we are not dealing with a man's salvation. We are dealing with a man's relationship to Jesus Christ as his Teacher, his Master and his Lord....a personal and intimate relationship--a relationship based on the knowledge of the person of Christ, a love for the person of Christ, submission to the person of Jesus Christ, and obedience to the commands of Jesus Christ."

Robert B Thieme, Jr: “A dispensation is a period of time expressing the divine viewpoint of human history. In other words, dispensations are the categories of human history, the divine outline of history, the divine interpretation of human history” (Dispensations, R. B. Thieme, Jr. Houston: Berachah Church, 1974. 8).

Dispensations are the Divine administration of human history (or period of time) in the progressively revealed

There are two sides of history, God’s side and Satan’s side, and therefore there is a constant spiritual battle through out history.

This is the general ministry of encouragement, comfort, and exhortation by all believers for others. It is different from the spiritual gift of encouragement and exhortation.

What do we know that supports the accuracy of the Bible?

Evil has resulted from the fall of Satan and the fall mankind. Evil sums up the worldview which Satan, the evil one has sponsored.

Each believer must learn with faith so he may have a true knowledge, he must recall with faith so he may have confident certainty of Bible truth, then each believer must apply by faith what he knows and is certain of (depend upon God to do as He said He would do).

Homosexuality contradicts God's design; Paul rejected homosexuality; homosexuality is self destructive.

A brief survey of biblical particulars about godly love—God’s sacrificial love in and through the believer.

What is special about the Bible’s godly women? What marks them as godly? Godly women are so needed today, and the need is even more dramatically evident with the current stress on feminism in our culture. This current cultural feminism not only runs counter to the Bible, it destroys genuine femininity and inner beauty that God created in women.

What I think, what I do, how I treat people, how I am

God is not just a great leader with strong moral character. He is perfect. We know this by the biblical statements about his character and by his actions recorded in Scripture. He is, as stated above, awe-inspiring. He is sovereign, holy, just, love, eternal, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, immutable, true, blessed, good, gracious, compassionate, merciful, patient, righteous, wise, self-existent and self-sufficient, spirit, free, infinite, simplicity, and united.

God's good done in God's way.

Biblical Principles for Doubtful Things: liberty, love, sacrifice, profit, restoration, and burden bearing are principles that guide believers’ actions and attitudes toward self, others, and doubtful things

What about those who have not heard the gospel? Must everyone believe the gospel? God does not want anyone to perish. Instead, He desires that all people know the truth and be saved from his judgment; He wants all to have eternal life through faith in His Son. God has made it possible for every person to arrive at God-consciousness through natural revelation. If they believe in God, He will provide gospel information.

This is the science and art of interpreting the Bible. Some people are changing the meaning from discovering the biblical author’s one intended meaning based on an analysis of the grammar and the history of the time to what does it mean to me apart from the historical time and purpose of the text.

Has God Performed Miracles? God's miracles teach us about the ability and power of God, increase our faith in the God of the Bible, and motivate us to glorify God.

Missions is the biblical ministry that takes God’s Word (gospel and basic doctrine) to people who live in geographical regions and cultures where it is not accurately proclaimed. “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing” 2 Corinthians 4:3

The Mosaic Law is the document that God gave to Israel through Moses while Moses was on Mt Sinai. It was to govern the life of the Israeli theocracy—the priest nation. The law contained requirements, blessings, and cursings, along with narrative (Exodus 19-20.1). “For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.” Jesus as recorded in John 1.17

Moses' life teaches us to listen to the LORD God's word, to believe Him, to obey and apply what He says, for God is able to accomplish what he asks one to do.

Our foundational motive ought to be “for to me, to live is Christ…” We should desire to please the Lord.

Biblical music honors God, teaches and recalls Bible doctrine, and encourages people. Music has its source in God’s revelation—revelation of himself, of his works, of his plan, and of his will. Good music lifts the soul and human spirit (encourage, give confidence and hope, bring out thankfulness, and challenge to live right) and orders the soul and human spirit (remove or lessen confusion, put emotions in proper perspective with truth, and give peace).

The new covenant is God’s promise that he will graciously give Israel a future permanent relationship and fellowship with him.

Paul exploits pressure. Live out your own salvation life. Pursuing knowing Christ. Stability, contentment, and joy.

The Pillars of the Faith are the foundational doctrines for the church age. God the Father created and rules all creation; he planned redemption, our spiritual relationships, our life, and he cares for his kingdom. We believers depend upon him to care for us and to direct us (Ephesians 1; John 17; John 14; Matthew 6.8-13).

Christ is the Father’s son—God and man in one person. The man Jesus was born, lived, died, arose, ascended to the Father, is the head of the church, and is waiting to call his church to heaven and then to return to rule earth in the millennium and new heavens and new earth. Believers trust him, watch him, and follow him. Christ’s relation to believers emphasizes that he is mediator, priest, advocate, authority, leader, and protector.

The Holy Spirit’s relation to believers emphasizes that he indwells us, that he is the glory of God in us, that he empowers us, and that he produces the Christian life in us—the character of Christ in us and spiritual fruit through us.

Grace is God’s free and unmerited favor and blessing upon mankind and especially upon believers in Christ.

The local church is particular group of believers who regularly meet together under the spiritual authority of a pastor-teacher so that he may equip them to serve and to build up the church (Ephesians 4.11-12; 1 Peter 5.1-4; Acts 20.28-30).

Spirituality is the absolute condition of a believer who living the Christian life by the power, ability, and guidance of the Holy Spirit. The always indwelling Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6.19) fills the believer “be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5.18). Other Scripture says "walk by the Holy Spirit" (Galatians 5.16), “led by the Spirit” (Galatians 5.18), “walk by the Spirit” (Galatians 5.25), and “you who are spiritual” (Galatians 6.1).

Eternal salvation refers to the once and for all forgiveness of all sin and the deliverance from God’s just condemnation; it includes relationship with God and the possession of eternal life. Eternal salvation, then, is all the work of God; man has absolutely no part in working to earn or gain or keep eternal life. Eternal salvation is ours by grace alone through faith in Christ alone. Paul says it is “by grace [freely given by God] through faith [we believe the message]” (Ephesians 2.8-9).

Faith, hope, and love are three application pillars or personal spiritual virtues that every believer in Christ has the privilege of developing and applying. Faith is the foundation, hope is built upon faith, and love is the result—the visible structure (1 Thessalonians 1.3; 1 Corinthians 13.13).

The Pillars of the Faith are the foundational doctrines for the church age. They include the following "Pillars:"

Positional truth identifies the church age believer’s relationship with Jesus Christ. Positional truth comes from the New Testament phrase “in Christ” which is found in 2 Corinthians 5:17 and many other passages.

This summarizes the Reformed tradition "position" held by their theologians and students of theology. Most of the "people in the pews" in Reformed tradition churches are not aware of all of this, nor do they think about this, and if asked if they believed this, they probably would say that they do not know or that they believe some of it.

What is repentance? Explore what it means in the context of the New Testament in this doctrinal study.

Repentance means to decide to turn from one’s sin; it is not a condition of salvation; faith in Christ as Savior is the only condition for salvation

God rewards believers for service to him

Summary of Romans 2:1-16. That God righteously judges those who persevere in doing good and those who do evil does not mean people can earn eternal salvation.

God's plan makes all believers into priests and as priests they no longer sacrifice animals, but instead give themselves to God while at the same time they are progressively being changed inside instead of being molded in the pattern of the present evil worldview (12.1-2).

We have, therefore, a spiritual birthright. God has given to every believer in the church a royal heritage, a royal mission, and a reason for royal courage. This threefold birthright is a foundation for living the Christian way of life.

Salvation words that explain "God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself."

To sanctify means to set apart for God’s service. Sanctification is the noun. Holy is the adjective. God sanctifies believers at the time of faith for salvation. This sets them apart for God’s service and blessing from that time on forever. God also works in believers to sanctify them—make them holy—for service to him and blessing for them during the Christian life. While the first is due to relationship with God in Christ, the second progresses through time and experience. Progressive sanctification depends upon the ministry of the Holy Spirit, God’s word, faith, and application of God’s word. Progressive sanctification has the goal of Christ-likeness in all parts of life and in all relationships—thinking, working, serving, playing, studying, worshipping, and so on and is important in personal, family, work, and church relationships. The third phase of sanctification is called final or ultimate sanctification and happens when believers go to be with the Lord. Central Scripture on progressive or Christian life sanctification include John 17:17-19, Romans 6:15-23, Romans 12:1-2, and 1 Peter 1:13-16. John 10:36 and 1 Peter 3:15 demonstrate the basic idea of sanctify.

Biblical Doctrine of Believer, Stand Firm! Summary

In order to fulfill their God-given potential for evangelism and edification, believers need to continually take into account and adjust to God’s primary objective for man, to God and His nature, to God’s grace policy, to God’s strategic objectives, to God’s protocol for the Christian Way of Life, and to God’s spiritual resources for believers. A Summary of Matthew 28:19-10

Walking refers to the regular and progressive movement through life. When you walk you take a step at a time.

War is a continuing fact of life. Wars will continue to be fought and rumors of wars will continue to spread throughout the world until Jesus Christ personally rules the earth in the Millennial Kingdom

Witness by teaching the Bible means to communicate God’s Word to the listener so that the listener can understand the message and choose to believe or reject it.

The normal Christian life is a life of moment by moment worship. Along with the day to day life, believers come together in assembly to worship in a formal way. This kind of worship is not restricted to music or even worship team led “worship.” The teaching of God’s word, prayer, giving, the Lord’s table, biblical music, and water baptism all are biblical worship.
